RCN customer service is completely incompitent

We have had a great deal of trouble with RCN from the beginning. Recently, RCN threatened to shut off service claiming to not have received a payment I had record of sending. The customer service representatives were worthless but I finally figured out they had lost my check. I was not happy but I agreed to cancel and resend it, but they shut off our cable anyway! Our payment for the check they had lost was in the mail but their response was "there's nothing we can do." So I had to pay again over the phone and cancel yet another check through my bank.

All in all I wasted about three hours on the phone with RCN trying to fix something that was their mistake and their attitude seemed to be "you deal with it." I would end our service but they have exclusive rights to our building. A warning to everyone else, do not use RCN! They are incompetent, rude and unhelpful

I am currently battling these people over a $70 charge for terminating my service early. I asked if there'd be any fees and the specifically told me "no" then they charged me anyway. The worst part? My service was only turned off 6 days early. I was charged $70 for 6 days because they assured me there'd be no charge. These people are incompetent at best and practice immoral business practices.

OMG! RCN ployed us in with their inexpensive promo's...a bundle package, phone, cable and internet. I made the mistake of leaving a company that I had had for over 7 years. The instant RCN hooked up my internet there was a virus on my computer. It took me over 25 hours on the phone with their tech dept. and investigation on my own to rid my computer of it. They (tech support) told me to go out and buy a new computer. My long distance has not been working,,,my TV reception is full of pixel break ups and I am usually on hold to either customer care or tech support for AT LEAST 30 mins or more each time I call. This is a horrible company. In fact I am on hold right now with them...I just looked at the phone timer,,,,,28 minutes so far. I do not recommend this co. to anyone. We started service with them on July 3, and now it is August 11 and have had nothing but problems...They should have their licenses' yanked.

Yeah the computer system we have automatically generates a disconnection work order when the account falls past due and we can only give a 5 day extension. there's no way to over ride it without being like a computer hacker
